My poor Ethan has been so sick! Friday morning he woke up right as I was leaving for school. I ran upstairs to say goodbye and quickly noticed he was burning up. I knew right then that I needed to stay home. I called school, sent over some quick sub plans, and then tended to my sick boy for the rest of the day. He was/is totally miserable. His fever was about 102 all day on Friday. He was completely lethargic. He either laid with me or laid on the couch pretty much all day. It breaks a Momma's heart to see her sick baby so pitiful.
On Saturday morning James and I took him in to the doctors. At the doctor's office his fever went up to 103. We were there for a long time just for the doctor to tell us that his tonsils were really red, but it didn't show up as strep. She sent us home with no medicine and said it was most likely a virus. We came home, Ethan went down for a nap, and James left to coach basketball.
Ethan woke up a couple of hours later sweating up a storm and HOT to the touch. I took his temperature and the numbers on that thermometer kept going up, up, up, all the way to 105! Yikes! I was freaking out. I called James and told him to come home and then took Ethan upstairs and put him in the tub. Poor little guy was shaking and screaming, but his fever needed to come down. I called the doctor and she just said to alternate motrin and tylenol to bring the fever down. It did come down, and he actually had a little bit of energy for playing.
Today (Sunday) he still has a fever. Not quite as high, but still around 102. Today he doesn't want to eat a thing and you can tell his throat hurts. :(
So, needless to say, I have had some time to do some things while he has been sleeping his days away. Last week, we got a note from daycare saying the kids in the Toddler Room could bring valentines to exchange. I didn't want to buy any of those little valentines - so I decided to make my own. The best part was that I was able to use supplies that I already had - I didn't have to spend a penny (this is good news for our budget)! I made some valentine press cookies, made little cards, and put a little sesame street sticker inside each card. I think they turned out super cute! It was nice to find the time to do something a little crafty - even though they were pretty simple.
